It seems like only a few hours ago I was writing yesterday's post. So today, I didn't have any breakfast. That may have contributed to my crankiness. Maybe not though. For lunch I made pancakes and they didn't taste very good. I only ate half of one. For dinner we made swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes. They were really tasty. Prior to dinner my Dad made this awesome new salsa! It's a black-eyed pea veggie salsa. I posted the recipe on &lt;a href="http://www.myrecipology.blogspot.com"&gt;MyRecipology blog&lt;/a&gt; and you can find the recipe &lt;a href="http://myrecipology.blogspot.com/2009/03/black-eyed-pea-salsa.html"&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;. The salsa is the picture below. The photo turned out really weird. I took the picture on my the counter at my parents house and it looks like it's floating. Two days in a row. Go me go! I feel like this 'at least one picture' thing is a lot more managable for me. So for breakfast I ate an apple, and it was a damn good apple. Good flavor and it wasn't the least bit mushy. I hate mushy apples. For lunch I made mac n cheese and it was so good. It was cold out today so I loved having something to warm me up. With lunch I also drank 1/2 a coke. For dinner I had a little bit of scrambled eggs and hashbrowns. And the only picture I got was of the bowl of mint chip ice cream I had a few minutes ago. I also drank about 1/2 cup of milk because my stomach was bothering me. And if you know me, you know my tummy had to have been really bothering me to drink milk. I hate milk. However, I'd like to keep my goal of recording everything I eat (in addition to my other goals). So I'll start to write each thing that I eat, and I'll try to take a picture of at least one meal daily. So today, I ate an apple, cheese slices, and wheat thins. I also had a Coke to drink. And for dinner I had about 3/4 cup of white rice and chicken/broccoli casserole. I have more than 1/2 of the book left and I've got too many things to do tomorrow to think about reading it. But since I read 2 books last month, I'm not too disappointed.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;I think &lt;/span&gt;&lt;a href="http://meagenridley.blogspot.com/search/label/Tonka"&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt;Tonka&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"&gt; has an ear infection and I'm taking him to the vet tomorrow. My headache wasn't too bad at all, but my tailbone was really bothering me all day. I probably slept wrong or something. I've been told that once you've broken your tailbone it bothers you the rest of your life. Mine only hurts if I sit for a while, like a ball games or when I'm driving. I can't believe it's been a year since I slipped and broke mine. Time goes faster and faster as I get older. We do this often. We order room service, just hang out and watch movies. It's nice because hotels have all of the movies that are in theaters (or were recently in theaters) and we get to watch them and then she takes the charges off our bill! He he. Anyway, I had a ham and cheese omlet, which I ate about 1/3 of. It wasn't very good. I have had a relaxing morning so far, I did a few blog posts on my &lt;a href="http://www.meagenridley.blogspot.com"&gt;daily blog&lt;/a&gt; and watched a few episodes of Prison Break. Lunch was quick.  I burned my finger on the pan when I was flipping the tortilla though, damn pan jumped out and got me. I had a cheese quasadilla and a small bowl of chilli fritos. In the other bowl is salsa and a dabble of sour cream. I made President's Day pancakes for breakfast and they were pretty tasty! I also had a strawberry yogurt and water. I took the picture before I filled my glass, but it eventually had water in it. Because it's a holiday I gave Tonka a can of wet dog food too. If he keeps eating like this he'll have to go on a diet soon. Okay, I know I was absent longer than I had anticipated, but now I'm back! I had a fabulous dinner party tonight with &lt;a href="http://www.ridleyclan.blogspot.com/"&gt;my family&lt;/a&gt; and here are a few pictures. I made beef tacos with refried beans and mexican rice. I ate 3/4 of a taco and about 3 strawberries. I also had one glass of sparkling cider. Even Tonka got a treat tonight with a meal of canned dog food. And from the looks of it, he thoroughly enjoyed it and is now sound asleep at my feet.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And just to get back in the groove of recording my meals, for breakfast I ate a peach Activa yogurt. I didn't take a picture though. And I skipped lunch because I wanted to be extra hungry for my fabulous dinner party!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Also, I am doing well with my other goals. I am a little behind on my book for this month, but I hope to finish it before the 28th! I've been flossing everyday and drinking more water as well.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I've also decided to add an additional bi-weekly goal to my list. I am going to add a new recipe to &lt;a href="http://myrecipology.blogspot.com"&gt;My Recipology blog&lt;/a&gt; at least once every 2 weeks. For those that do not know, My Recipology, is a blog of recipes that I make. I started it months ago, but haven't made much of an effort to keep it up to date. I updated it this evening with the chocolate strawberries and while they are pretty much self explainatory, I like to record even the simple things I make. I am still very nauseous and haven't had anything to eat but Sprite and saltine crackers today. I didn't take any pictures of those. My Mom made something new, lasagna rolls and it was really good. She put the lasagna fixings on the bottom of the pan and then rolled the noodles with the cheeses. We also had 3-bean salad. I could not take a very good picture of this meal, so it doesn't look very good. I'll quickly recap. Friday, I ate pretty well. Apple and english muffin for breakfast, chicken melt sandwhich for lunch, and goolash for dinner. I spent the night at the hotel with Holli Friday night and we watched The House Bunny. I love that movie, it was so funny. Saturday I felt sick most of the day and only ate a granola bar in the morning. I have to say I was quite disappointed with this one. I originally came across it in an article I read on MSNBC. I can't find the article now, but included in it was a complete chapter of the book. It kept my attention, I laughed and I could relate. It left me wanting to read more and a few days later I bought the book.&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The Late Bloomer's Revolution is the story of a New York City girl, Amy Cohen, who's life turns out completely different than she plans. She feels as if Life has left her behind. She is in her late 30's, single, and recently lost her job as a TV writer. The story is mostly of her dating life and the ups and downs. But it also discusses how she handles her mother's passing away and finding new employment. There were times I related with her in the book, mostly with her dating frustrations and how she tries to relate to her married friends. But the remainder of the book I just wanted to slap her silly. It's so depressing. There is one chapter in which she goes on and on about riding a bike and how when she was young she went to a 'biking birthday party' but she didn't know how to actually ride a bike and she falls down. Blah. I think the saddest part is that the book is based on the author's life. I mean we all get down sometimes, I totally understand that, I've expressed my frustrations with life on &lt;a href="http://meagenridley.blogspot.com/"&gt;my personal blog&lt;/a&gt; on more than one occassion. But, come on. I really struggled to finish this one.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;My expectations were probably too high for this book and that is the reason I didn't care for it. Although, I'm guessing there are many women out there that could really relate and would thoroughly enjoy it. I would give this book a 2 on a scale of 1-5. It just wasn't for me I guess.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since I've finished this book way ahead of schedule I supposed my next book, &lt;a href="http://www.amazon.com/Nineteen-Minutes-Novel-Jodi-Picoult/dp/0743496728"&gt;Nineteen Minutes&lt;/a&gt;, will be my official February book. And it's a longer one (480 pages) so it will probably take me the whole month to finish! So I'll just tell you. For breakfast I had an onion bagel with cream cheese. At lunch I ate a bowl of macaroni salad and I didn't have any dinner. Oh and I also had half of a slice of an apple pie my Mom made. It was pretty tasty. I'll be better with pictures tomorrow. Oh and PS remember the picture of my fridge? Dessert</title><content type='html'>I started my book for next month, The Late Bloomer's Revolution, this afternoon and I'm enjoying it so far. I may finish by the end of January since it's a short read at 288 pages. We did a had an early dinner today. When I say 'we' I mean my family and me. I really liked reading this book and is one that I will probably read again somewhere down the road. The Gargoyle would be a perfect airplane read. I can get completely engrossed in a book when I am on a plane. I think it's because I have absolutely no interest in talking with the strangers around me and do my best to tune them all out. But back to the book.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The beginning is a little brutal. Not because it's difficult to read, but because it's so descriptive you can almost feel the words. The first part of the book describes a car crash that the narrator experiences and if you can make it through that you won't want to put it down. I loved each of the stories that Marianne told because they kept my attention. I couldn't wait to continue reading to hear the next part of each one. I also liked the way that the narrator goes back and forth determining whether Marianne is totally insane, or if they really happened. I love how they all tie in to one another, and in the end when he tells Marianne &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_0"&gt;Engel&lt;/span&gt; he loves her. &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_1"&gt;Aww&lt;/span&gt;. So sweet. Here's an &lt;span class="blsp-spelling-corrected" id="SPELLING_ERROR_2"&gt;excerpt&lt;/span&gt; from that part.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: center;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;"...I spent my entire life waiting for you, Marianne, and I didn't even know it until you          arrived. Being burned was the best thing that ever happened to me because it brought you. I wanted to die but you filled me with so much love that it overflowed and I couldn't help but love you back. It happened before I even knew it and now I can't imagine not loving you..."&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: left;"&gt;I'm not really familiar with writing book reviews, or any reviews for that matter so bare with me if that one kind of sucked. Ha ha, maybe I'll get better in the upcoming months.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Even if I haven't done very well with a healthier body, I am right on track to a healthier mind. The poor little guy. I gave him some of his medicine and then we went back to bed for a bit. That didn't last long and at 8:30am I headed to Walgreen's for a prescription and a few other things. I was asleep most of the day.&lt;a href="http://meagenridley.blogspot.com/2008/12/migraine.html"&gt; I have pretty terrible migraines&lt;/a&gt;, and yesterday I just couldn't take it anymore. So I went to the doctor and got a shot which promptly knocked me out. So as far as pictures go, I don't have any. And let it be known I ate zero foods that were good for me. Same goes for today. Zero pictures and zero healthy foods. I had originally intended for this blog and first post to go up January 1, but better late than never, so here goes. Starting tomorrow I will be posting a picture of everything I eat. Sounds boring, however I've seen it done on a few blogs and they are fairly interesting. My hope is that if everyone sees exactly what I eat each day I am more likely to eat less junk. I do not have any weight loss goals. These never work for me. My only goal is a healthier body and mind.&lt;div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;I have done only so-so with my eating less junk, but I have done very well with a healthier mind. I'm almost finished with this month's book (The Gargoyle) and I'm excited to start a new one. I haven't decided what my next one will be, but I have a stack to choose from on my shelf. If anyone has suggestions I'd love to hear them!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;This blog may not interest everyone, but that's okay!
